Dr. Vijay Langer

Profile Dr. (Col.) Vijay Langer is an MBBS graduate from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. He completed his MS and DNB (General Surgery) in 1998. He further completed his MCh in Plastic Surgery also from AFMC in the year 2005 and then was awarded a Gold Medal in DNB Plastic Surgery. He was actively involved in treating the wounded soldier and his family for over two decades. He has been a Plastic, Hand and Cosmetic Surgeon par excellence. He has been actively involved in teaching and presenting papers on his quality work within the country and abroad. He has ably trained many General and Plastic Surgeons over the years, and has also been an examiner for MS (Gen Surg) and DNB (Plastic Surgery). Work Experience Dr. Langer has had a distinguished service with the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services for 28 years, has amassed a wealth of clinical experience of over 13 years in Plastic Surgery, and is now pursuing his passion in Cosmetic, Hand and holistic Plastic Surgery at Fortis LaFemme, Escorts, Vasant Kunj, Sitaram Bhartia, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre and Rainbow Children’s Hospital. Professional Memberships He is a life member of Association of Surgeons of India, Association of Plastic Surgeons of India, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand, Indian Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and Indian Society of Peripheral Nerve Surgery. Awards and Honours He was awarded Gold Medal in DNB (Plastic Surgery) in 2006. He was awarded Carl Zeiss Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at Ganga Hospital, India in 2008. Another feather in his cap was being awarded a Clinical Fellowship in Body Contouring following Massive Weight Loss at Iowa City, USA in 2009. Research and Publications He has carried out 8 original research projects while in the Army and directed one with the Indian Council of Medical Research. As an avid academician, he has directed six theses in Plastic Surgery and seven theses in General Surgery. He has 59 publications to his credit including 25 in international and PubMed indexed journals. He also has written three chapters in various books.
